Applications for the 2022 Diversity Immigrant Visa (DV) Program will be accepted online starting Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at noon, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).  Applications must be submitted by noon EDT on Tuesday, November 10, 2022. There is no filing tee to apply.

Individuals are eligible to apply unless they are natives of the following countries: Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (including Hong Kong SAR), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam. Individuals born in Macau SAR and Taiwan are eligible. Last year individuals born in Hong Kong SAR were also eligible, but this year, they are not.

Beyond meeting the nationality requirement, each DV applicant must also meet the education/work experience requirement of the DV program by having either:

  • at least a high school education or its equivalent, defined as successful completion of a 12-year course of formal elementary and secondary education; OR
  • two years of work experience within the past five years in an occupation that requires at least two years of training or experience to perform.

Applicants may not submit more than one application.   Submitting more than one application will result in disqualification.
