Register now for the Diversity Lottery!

The annual Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery for FY 2023 opened October 6, 2021.  Registration closes on November 9, 2021, at noon ET.

Instructions for registration and FAQs are available here: https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Diversity-Visa/DV-Instructions-Translations/DV-2023-Instructions-Translations/DV-2023-Instructions-English.pdf

There is no cost to register.   If selected, applicants must pay the fees associated with obtaining an immigrant visa or applying for Adjustment of Status.

Individuals born in certain countries are not eligible to apply.  The DV lottery is open to countries with historically low immigration numbers.  Countries with high immigration (more than 50,000 natives of those countries have immigrated to the United States in the past five years) are not eligible.

The ineligible countries for FY 2023 are:

Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (including Hong Kong SAR), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, Venezuela and Vietnam. Individuals born in Macau SAR and Taiwan are eligible.

Individuals may not submit more than one application. Submitting multiple applications will lead to disqualification.

Interested applicants should apply early. Do not wait until the last week when heavy demand could lead to technical issues and delays.

Applicants must apply online. No late or paper entries are accepted.
