Today, 24 February 2020, employers took the first steps in the H-1B Cap Pre-Registration Journey by creating H-1B Registrant Accounts at myUSCIS.gov.
As a test of the process, I created an H-1B Registrant Account for E&M Mayock. It was surprisingly easy and quick! The only data required was an e-mail address, verification code and answers to security questions.
The only hiccup in the process occurred when the required verification code e-mail got stuck in my junk e-mail folder. Once I became aware that the required e-mail was sitting in my junk folder, account creation was completed quickly.
Here are our tips for successful H-1B Registrant Account Creation:
- Create a dedicated e-mail for this purpose (example: h1bcapreg@_____.com)
- Avoid issues with junk e-mail by adding MyAccount@uscis.dhs.gov to your “safe sender” list. Instructions for Outlook found here: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Add-recipients-of-my-email-messages-to-the-Safe-Senders-List-BE1BAEA0-BEAB-4A30-B968-9004332336CE
- Make a record of the password you use for the account
- Make an exact record of the security answers you provide (lower case / upper case, punctuation)
- Provide E&M Mayock with the e-mail address used to create the account
- Contact E&M Mayock with any issues you encounter or questions you have. We are happy to assist with this process.
