Sutter Health Enjoys Year-Round Benefits in Hiring Professionals
Good news for 2009 that you may not be aware of! Sutter Health enjoys the ability to hire foreign-born professionals via the H-1B visa program - without regard to quotas - and is exempt from the $1,500 government “Training Fee.”
Most employers must wait for the annual H-1B filing window to open in April of each year (with employment starting only on October 1st for those candidates lucky enough to be selected by lottery). As a qualifying non-profit health care system, Sutter affiliates can hire key professionals as needed throughout the year.
The H-1B visa program permits Sutter Health to hire professionals for any position that requires at least a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent. It is NOT necessary to demonstrate a shortage in the marketplace (the most common misconception about this program). No additional advertising is necessary. Sutter affiliates can hire the best qualified candidate, regardless of the availability of American workers, as long as the “prevailing wage” is paid.
An H-1B professional may be hired for an initial period of three years [renewable]. And by paying an additional $1,000 to the government, the approval can be obtained in two weeks (rather than the normal 3 – 4 months processing).
For those candidates already in H-1B status elsewhere, the mere FILING of a new H-1B visa petition will trigger employability – no “Premium Processing” necessary.
